This winter’s press kit from the Oregon Raspberry and Blackberry Commission gives your readers ideas for delicious ways to brighten up any special event. Each of these two featured recipes includes photos and special tips to use in sidebar information.

Gorgonzola Cheese Tart with Blackberry Port Sauce
This elegant and refined appetizer will evoke memories of holidays past when you serve it at your Holiday gathering. The rich creamy tang of Gorgonzola cheese is cut with the surprisingly fresh and earthy taste of blackberries and finished with the sophistication of a warm Blackberry Port Sauce.  Make the tart in either the rectangular tart pan we used or a more conventional round pan. Either way a small slice will make you guests’ taste buds sit up and take notice.
Red Raspberry Champagne Granita
Granita is an exceptional Italian dessert related to ices and sorbets. A granita is frozen in a shallow pan, and not agitated like sorbet and is then scraped or shaved to produced separated crystals. This is the perfect light but sophisticated dessert that requires no expensive gadgets, just the occasional fork scraped over it.  Frozen berries work best for making this quick but spectacular ending to any Holiday fete. Served in a glittering martini glass and garnished with a few red raspberries, Red Raspberry Champagne Granita is sure to get noticed.

While Oregon Marionberries are available frozen across the country, your readers may substitute fresh or frozen blackberries in all our recipes with excellent results.
